In traditional web browsers, cookies are small data files placed on your device. However, within the context of the Charge mobile app, we do not use traditional web cookies. Instead, we rely on mobile-specific equivalents: local device storage and Firebase SDKs. These technologies allow the app to cache your task data offline, remember your preferred app theme, and keep you securely signed into your account between sessions.
Why do we use these technologies?
We use these local storage and SDK technologies for essential operational reasons. They are strictly necessary for the app to function properly. For example, local storage ensures your daily task list loads instantly upon opening the app, and secure authentication tokens ensure your private journal entries cannot be accessed by anyone else. We also use internal tools (like Firebase Crashlytics) to log technical errors and app crashes so we can fix bugs and improve performance.
How can I control my data?
Because these technologies are strictly necessary for the Charge app to function, they cannot be individually opted out of while using the app. However, you maintain full control over this data through your device's operating system. You can clear the app's local data at any time by navigating to your device's Settings (e.g., iOS Settings > General > iPhone Storage > Charge, or Android Settings > Apps > Charge > Storage > Clear Data), or by completely uninstalling the application.
